I didn't expect such a fantastic movie! I'm amazed by the quality of what we see in this trailer of the Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus! I understand now why Director Terry Giliam was pushing so hard for the movie to be produced and can but appreciate his dedication to save the last footage of Heath Ledger.

Heath Ledger as Tony: A conman, who joins the troupe.

The accident that took Heath Ledger's life in the midst of production could have brought the movie to an end. But thanks to Terry Gilliam's determination to honor the work done by Heath Ledger and to pursue the movie, the Imaginarium of the Doctor Parnassus should hit theaters on September 24, 2009.

Tery Gilliam is able to keep Heath Ledger's scenes thanks to a plot trick: his role was recast to have Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell portray "physically transformed versions" of the character.

"In the present day, immortal 1,000-year-old Doctor Parnassus (Christopher Plummer) leads a travelling theatre troupe that offers audience members a chance to go beyond reality through a magical mirror in his possession. Members of the troupe include a sleight of hand expert, Anton (Andrew Garfield), and a dwarf, Percy (Verne Troyer), Parnassus had been able to guide the imagination of others through a deal with the Devil (Waits), who now comes to collect on the arrangement, targeting the doctor's daughter (Lily Cole). The troupe, which is joined by a mysterious outsider named Tony (portrayed by Heath Ledger, Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell), embark through parallel worlds to rescue the girl."
