Seems Director Terry Gilliam is able to carry out his latest movie despite the death of Heath Ledger, a lead actor in the cast of the upcoming Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. There is a first teaser trailer of Doctor Parnassus that just showed up on Quick Stop Entertainment. Actually it is not really a trailer of the Imaginarium of Doctor Parnasus, it is closer to a behind-the-scenes preview clip.

Here below the first official teaser trailer of Doctor Parnassus:

Acclaimed filmmaker Terry Gilliam will venture beyond all that you know,
beyond all that you comprehend,
to reveal a world beyond Imagination!

IMAGINARIUM OF DOCTOR PARNASSUS

Step through the mirror!

Heath Ledger's missing part will be fulfilled by three actors, namely: Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law. The bizarre universe of the Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus allows indeed such a plot trick.

Doctor Parnassus Official Site

An official site has popped up for The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.
Heath Ledger died before all shooting was done: the movie is jeopardized, under the threat of being put aside.

But director Terry Gilliam does not want to give up. So the opening of an official website for the Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is a good sign. Heath Ledger last role will not be lost.

Some rumors claim that by using a plot trick Johnny Depp may replace Heath Ledger for the last scenes of the movie. An other possibility mentioned by Terry Gilliam would be to use CGI (computers) to recreate an avatar in the image of Heath Ledger.

Heath Ledger found dead in New York City

One hour ago I was wondering why this blog was suddenly attracting so many people. It's by looking at the referrers that i finaly understood, and not without sadness... One referrer page was talking about Heath Ledger's death!

That's a really sad news: a great actor has left us.

I don't know yet how his death may impact the Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. I read that Heath Ledger finished principal photography on this film and was in New York for a short vacation before going back to finish effects shots but don't have confirmation yet.

Fans will be able to see at least one more performance of Heath Ledger in the Dark Knight.

For more information about Heath Ledger's death I recommend you the following article by the Washington Post:
"Heath Ledger Found Dead in NYC"

May Heath Ledger rest in peace.
Our prayers go out to his family, his crew and loved ones.

Update:
Following an autopsy we have more details about the cause of Heath Ledger's death: it was due to an acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam and doxylamin. (more details here)
A great actor died because he mixxed usual medicines: taken alone they aren't harmful but combined they are really dangerous...
So beware not to reproduce the same mistake: medicine aren't candies, take them with parsimony.

Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus Synopsis

Here below you'll find the synopsis of The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.
But beware the following synopsis may contain some minor spoilers.

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is a fantastical morality tale, set in the present day.
It tells the story of Dr Parnassus and his extraordinary 'Imaginarium', a travelling show where members of the audience get an irresistible opportunity to choose between light and joy or darkness and gloom. Blessed with the extraordinary gift of guiding the imaginations of others, Dr Parnassus is cursed with a dark secret. Long ago he made a bet with the devil, Mr Nick, in which he won immortality. Many centuries later, on meeting his one true love, Dr Parnassus made another deal with the devil, trading his immortality for youth, on condition that when his first-born reached its 16th birthday he or she would become the property of Mr Nick. Valentina is now rapidly approaching this 'coming of age' milestone and Dr Parnassus is desperate to protect her from her impending fate. Mr Nick arrives to collect but, always keen to make a bet, renegotiates the wager. Now the winner of Valentina will be determined by whoever seduces the first five souls. Enlisting a series of wild, comical and compelling characters in his journey, Dr Parnassus promises his daughter's hand in marriage to the man that helps him win. In this captivating, explosive and wonderfully imaginative race against time, Dr Parnassus must fight to save his daughter in a never-ending landscape of surreal obstacles - and undo the mistakes of his past once and for all...

Sounds promising! I wait for it!
